7 Multi-Tracking Projects Approved by Cabinet to Boost Indian Railways

The Union Cabinet has approved seven multi-tracking projects of Indian Railways at a total cost of Rs 32,500 crore. The projects will cover 2,339 km of railway lines in nine states -- Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.

The projects involve doubling, tripling, and quadrupling of existing railway lines. The details of the projects are as follows:

 

  • Gorakhpur-Cantt-Valmiki Nagar: Doubling of the existing line.
  • Son Nagar-Andal Multi-tracking Project: Multi Tracking. This project involves the construction of a new railway line parallel to the existing line between Son Nagar and Andal.
  • Nergundi-Barang and Khurda Road-Vizianagaram 3rd Line: Construction of a third railway line between Nergundi and Barang, and between Khurda Road and Vizianagaram.
  • Mudkhed-Medchal and Mahbubnagar-Dhone: Doubling of existing lines.
  • Guntur-Bibinagar: Doubling of existing line.
  • Chopan-Chunar: Doubling of the existing line.
  • Samakhiali-Gandhidham: Quadrupling of the existing line.
